What is Divorce Recovery Coaching? Divorce Recovery Coaching is designed to help you (the client) learn to effectively manage your divorce and divorced life so that you can heal completely and move on with life in a healthy, productive way. We focus on your immediate challenges, as well as keeping a good eye on your future. My job as your coach is to help you develop the personal skills necessary to master the day-to-day stress of being a divorced mom; create personal & professional goals that inspire & motivate you, and keep you accountable to those goals; help you navigate time in court or through mediation; acknowledge and celebrate your accomplishments; hold the 'space' for you to explore what you really want out of life; provide appropriate and relevant resources; and inspire and encourage you to step up and be more than you ever thought possible.
How does it work? I meet with my clients by phone, once a week, for 50 minutes per session. During our call we focus on any pressing challenges the client might be going through at the time (custody hearings, time & stress management, dating, sharing child care, going back to school, etc.), as well as focusing on the bigger picture of achieving specific goals and creating a life that is purposeful, joyful and meaningful to the client. In addition to our weekly calls, I am available by phone or email to all my clients. It's important to me that my clients feel supported and know my door is open to them, even between calls.
What will Divorce Recovery Coaching do for me? Divorce Recovery Coaching will help you to resolve the emotional 'hangover' of your divorce - the anger, fear, exhaustion, low self-esteem, and overwhelm you may be experiencing. It will also free you up so that you can get excited about, and start taking steps toward, your future. It will help you to become more pro-active and empowered in your own life. You will be a more confident mother and a happier woman. And you know those unhealthy habits you have? (come on. we all have them), you'll start making wiser, better choices for yourself and your family. It will give you support and inspiration to continue moving forward, even in the worst of times or on the darkest of days.

Some of the results you can expect with Solo Mama coaching:
-
Clear the emotional & mental clutter. Too often divorced moms feel 'stuck' because they are overwhelmed by the daily demands of single parenting, the emotion and stress of ending a significant relationship, fear of an uncertain future, as well as the legal and financial pressures of being divorced. This creates repeated worrisome thoughts that generate a ton of anxiety. I work with clients to break through this mental chaos. Together, we look at what really needs to be addressed, what can be released, and what resources or actions are needed in order to 'quiet the clutter'. Fairly quickly, my clients report feeling relief and have a greater sense of control over their own destiny. They stop focusing on the stuff that isn't serving them, and they begin to focus on the things that bring them joy and move them forward.
-
Become Empowered: As a divorced mom becoming personally (and professionally) empowered is a vital step. What does this mean, exactly? It means learning to become confident and proactive in your own life. It means to learn how to comfortably speak up for yourself and to take action towards the life you want. It means identifying and leveraging your personal strengths, as well as learning how to address (and possibly eliminate) your weaknesses. When you are in full access of your personal power, your life becomes more vibrant and fulfilling, and you effortlessly start to attract more of what you do want, and less of what you don't want.
-
Navigate your divorce (and divorced life) better: Divorce Recovery Coaching will help you develop the specific personal skills you need to manage the natural ups and downs of divorce. Sadly, divorced living is full of potential problems. Even the most amicable of divorces can fall apart through simple misunderstandings and just the stress of life in general. It takes a new skill set to learn how to stay sane, happy and healthy when living a divorced life. You'll learn new ways to communicate and interact with your ex; how to stand up and protect yourself when necessary; how to be a more effective & connected single parent; how to create a life that is personally meaningful, without taking anything away from your family. You'll learn how to take risks that you might otherwise have passed up, and how to take exceptional care of yourself so that you don't get lost in the busyness of divorced living.
-
Discover the simple, practical ways to make life as a Divorced Mom much easier and way more effective. A lot of our overwhelm as divorced moms simply comes from the busyness of life: careers, children's homework, meetings, carpools, doctor's visits, paying the bills, etc. I work with clients to develop simple, pragmatic systems that actually work for divorced moms - which will help you gain back valuable time, energy and sanity.
-
Curb the Loneliness. There's no doubt that being a divorced mom will bring with it long nights and lonely weekends. Loneliness at it's worst can drive you into bad relationships, unhealthy habits and depression. You don't want that, and I don't want that for you. An empowered divorced mom doesn't necessarily not feel lonely some of the time (that's just the nature of the beast), but she knows how to handle her loneliness in a way that is healthy and productive - and even enjoyable, at times! As we work together on this, you'll see what is at the core of your loneliness and learn easy ways to make your peace with being a single woman again.
-
Step Into Your Future. It's easy to get caught up living day to day without giving much thought to the future. A critical part of healing from your divorce is to nurture your future as well. My job as your coach is to help you craft a reasonable plan for your future - one that includes your needs and values - so that it will be meaningful and enjoyable for you, as well as fitting in with your family obligations. Discovering your new personal purpose is essential to living well after divorce!
-
Find Peace and Joy again. You deserve a wonderful life, and your divorce should not prevent you from that. Acceptance, forgiveness, compassion and patience are sometimes the life skills you need to call upon to achieve this. At other times, though, you'll need to be strong, confident, courageous and a fighter. It's the yin and yang of divorce healing. I'll help you develop yourself in all these different areas so that you have the right tools to call upon at the right time.

Is Solo Mama Coaching for me? The clients I work with are women who are ready to let go of their divorce baggage and start a new life for themselves. They take full ownership for themselves, and are ready to dive-in and make things happen. I am constantly inspired by their courage, commitment and willingness to make the changes necessary to live a great life, even if divorced. Divorce Recovery Coaching is effective for any woman at any stage of divorce - as long as she is ready to make changes so that her life can be all it is meant to be. My 'style' of coaching is warm but direct. I don't mince my words. I tell my clients what I know they need to hear in order to grow but I do it lovingly, with lots of humor and tenderness.
What type of challenges do help your clients with? It depends on the client and her situation, but here is a list of the more common issues in my practice:
