What makes a happy Solo Mama?

That question has plagued me since I was a little girl and I watched my aunt raise six (count them, six!) kids on her own. Five boys and one girl. I love my cousins but they were a handful. Somehow my aunt handled it all, raising some pretty incredible kids and leaving me completely inspired.

Later in life, I watched my mom handle single parenting after my dad died suddenly. It was a really difficult time for all of us, especially my mom. I remember so desperately wanting to find a way to give her hope, happiness and a can-do attitude.

Then I watched my best friend with her new baby get through a sudden and very nasty divorce, starting over with nothing. She struggled with money, time, energy, self-esteem and depression.

I kept thinking, 'There has to be a better way!'

Then my own divorce hit, and even though it was incredibly painful and scary, it turned out to be a huge blessing. It gave me the forum to really discover ways to make divorce easier on everyone - mom, dad and especially the kids. And the best and most important part? Approaching divorce as I did gave me so much more in return: more joy, more meaning, more opportunities and a much happier life than I ever thought possible.

Shortly after my divorce was final, I graduated from Coach U, the world's top coach training school and I started living out my passion in earnest - finding ways to make life after divorce better, happier and healthier for everyone involved. I combined my professional skills as a personal coach with my real-life experience of being a divorced mom to two children and founded Divorce Alchemy, an online coaching community focused on anyone who is ready to recover from divorce.

But I soon found I wanted to speak to divorced moms specifically - to create a forum just for divorced moms to get what they need most - friendship, support navigating the rocky road of divorce recovery and someone to show what is possible - and encourage them to make big changes in their lives. My passion is to make their lives more positive, more hopeful and much more joyful. And so my next 'baby' was born: Solo Mama! It's a place to come to for friendship, coaching and inspiration.
